Advising Information
The Department of Physics is one of twelve departments in the College of Engineering (COE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There are four curriculum paths and degree options within Physics. Students admitted to Physics through the COE take the "engineering physics" option and receive a bachelor's degree awarded by the COE. Students admitted to Physics through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) have a choice of three separate curricula—"science and letters," "specialized," and the "physics teaching option." Students enrolled in one of these three curricula receive a bachelor of science degree awarded by LAS.

Minors, Double Majors and Double Degrees
Learn more about the requirements for a physics minor; expand your understanding of physics beyond the introductory level.
Add a second Science and Letters major to your plan of study. Successful completion of double major will be noted on your transcript
You can complete the requirements for more than one degree; subsequent choices are not in the LAS Science and Letters curriculum. You must complete at least 30 extra hours beyond the bachelor's requirements for a second degree.
