Hyperentanglement-enhanced Quantum Communication
States entangled in more than one degree of freedom, or hyperentangled, enable, e.g., remote preparation of single-photon entangled states and 100%-efficient Bell state analysis, important for dense coding and other quantum communication protocols. We have shown a source of pairs of photons entangled in every degree of freedom (journal article, pdf, Physics News Update). This source enabled us to encode the most amount of information on a binary property of a single photon, beating the channel capacity limit for linear photonic superdense coding (journal article).
